The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra (MSO) serves Mississippi and beyond through live orchestral music and educational opportunities that enrich lives and promote learning for all people.
As Mississippi’s largest professional performing arts organization, MSO reaches over 75,000 people annually through more than 120 concerts across the state. Many of our signature Bravo and Pops Series concerts take place at Thalia Mara Hall, while our Chamber Series brings intimate performances to venues throughout Jackson. We also present special events, including the beloved Pepsi Pops at Old Trace Park on the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
MSO tours as a full orchestra, chamber orchestra, and through our three resident ensembles—Woodwind Quintet, Brass Quintet, and String Quartet—performing in cities including Vicksburg, Pascagoula, Brookhaven, Hattiesburg, and more.
Our commitment to music education is central to our mission. Through the Mississippi Symphony Youth Orchestras and school programs, over 800 students receive daily instruction in strings. We also present Children’s Concerts for over 16,000 students annually and visit 120 schools each year with engaging lecture-demonstrations by our ensembles. Additional programs include festivals, competitions, and a week-long summer string camp.
MSO is sustained by generous support from the Jackson Symphony League, community donors, and grants from organizations such as the National Endowment for the Arts and the Mississippi Arts Commission. Now in our 80th year, we remain dedicated to enriching lives through music—for generations to come.
