What's Going On
Whether you’re a kid or still a kid at heart, Flowood has fantastic festivals, exciting events, and outstanding opportunities for fun every season of the year!
Since 1999, the City of Flowood has hosted the Flowood Family Festival, an outdoor concert that kicks off the summer season with live music, kid's activities, fair food, fireworks, and more. The festival is always free and brings in travelers from all over to join in family-friendly fun right here in Flowood.

Free live music in Flowood available every Thursday night at 7 PM in the Missy Sippi Rooftop Bar of Sheraton Flowood The Refuge Hotel & Conference Center
Our event is a celebration of the nation?s independence and also, a salute to the military. The celebration is free to the public. Folks come out to Lakeshore Park (Rankin county) and Old Trace Park (Madison county) to enjoy live music, kids zones, food, drink, visit with the military men and women that attend, and of course the kids climb all over any static displays that are present. Our day?s event includes a 5K run early that morning, classic car show, a lighted boat parade at dusk, a cardboard boat race, water quality education demonstrations, and FIREWORKS. We put on the best fireworks show in the area, launched from both sides of the lake so that both parks have a front row seat to the pyrotechnics show. The show is coordinated with a radio simulcast of patriotic music on MISS103. We have had the pleasure of hosting various military units from the immediate area (112MP, 172 Airlift, Army R&R, AF R&R) in past years and General Collins has graciously agreed to be the Grand Marshal for our Lighted Boat Parade for the past 3 years. We have also been honored to count on the local JROTC programs and the State Guard to assist with our events.
