Since 1999, the City of Flowood has hosted the Flowood Family Festival, an outdoor concert that kicks off the summer season with live music, kid's activities, fair food, fireworks, and more. The festival is always free and brings in travelers from all over to join in family-friendly fun right here in Flowood.

The 16th annual Race for the Cure is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, 2015, in downtown Jackson. Race for the Cure Jackson is part of the largest series of 5K runs/fitness walks in the world. Race for the Cure promotes breast health awareness, celebrates survivors, encourages breast cancer patients and honors those we have lost. Breast cancer affects one in eight women and its occurrence in men is continuing to rise. It is vital to involve all of our communities in the fight against breast cancer. The morning?s activities will begin at 6:30 a.m. with a special survivor breakfast. Race for the Cure will include the new Motorcycle for Mounds ride, Kids One Mile Fun Run/Walk, an optional timed 5K and timed 10K. The event will feature the Kids for the Cure activities tent, the ever-popular Team Tailgate area and sponsor tents. The ?Pink It Up? contest will recognize the best ?Pinked Up? person and more contest (t-shirt, best decorated team tailgate tent. Put on your pink tutu, form a team, and Race to help end breast cancer.
